Greece Women's Trip 2018 Adventures In Missions Short Term Missions Trip

Life with Jesus is about the journey.

As women we spend our lives loving others and caring for their needs. If we are not careful, before we know it, we will lose touch with the greatest possible mission field — our own hearts.

Ministry doesn’t begin and end in the Church pew on Sunday; it should be a way of life and church planting should be a natural outpouring of our heart. On your journey you will be guided in discovering the Father’s voice for yourself and you will find the joy in praying for the locals as you build friendships that will last a lifetime.

Each day will begin in prayer. We’ll spend our mornings asking the Lord to guide us to those who might need us to cross their path.  We will spend our days praying over the communities we come in contact with, and in the evening we will gather to debrief and celebrate all that the Father has done in us and for us.

You will be forever changed by seeing the hand of God move on a daily basis with you and your new sisters!

Our trip to Naxos and Santorini is a journey about slowing down, intentionally engaging in conversation and taking each moment with reflection and purpose.  We will island hop between two of the most beautiful Greek Islands, Naxos and Santorini in one trip. You will discover the best of these absolute gems on foot.

The Cyclades is a group of around 220 islands scattered in the Aegean Sea to the South East of the Greek mainland. Rugged sun kissed pieces of earth scattered in the turquoise waters of the Aegean. Sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs, scented olive groves and bright white villages. The Cyclades are the Greek Islands of your dreams.

Experience discipleship using the ancient tradition of pilgrimage, building relationships along the way.  Get outside of your limits and walk a path where thousands have walked before. Gather with women and talk about what real community and life looks like. What does it mean to be a woman in today’s society and actively seek the Lord?

During this journey, you will learn to find your strength in God and to focus on true discipleship in community.

Your group will explore the beautiful Greek Islands of Naxos and Santorini. You will walk through ancient olive groves, along cobbled paths, past a Venetian fortress, explore an ancient quarry, and even climb the mythical Mount Zas. Around every turn will be views of the turquoise Aegean Sea.

Each night we will be staying at a local hotel, in the morning we will gather, pray and  transfer to a different portion of the island to explore by foot. Upon arrival back to the hotel, there will be time to explore, rest, debrief our day and find the perfect dinner spot.

The itinerary…

Entering the flooded caldera of Santorini on the ferry is an unforgettable experience. Thesteepcoloured cliffs crowned by whitewashed villages surround you and you will be filled with anticipation of the delights that lie ahead.

The archipelago of Santorini is essentially all that remains of a giant volcanic eruption that occurred 3600 years ago and is thought to have ended the Minoan Civilization. Or could it be the source of the legend of Atlantis?

  • DAY 5: Perissa to Akrotiri: 6 hours – A short transfer after breakfast will take you to Perissa. From here you climb via an old path to an exposed saddle. This is one of the very few points that predates the devastating volcanic explosion.

Your walk continues to Ancient Thira: the capital of the island in Ancient and Roman times. It enjoys the most fantastic location.  You then descend via an old path to the quiet interior of the island walking through vineyards, and picture perfect villages until you reach the black beach which takes you back to Akrotiri village and a refreshing plunge in the pool.

  • DAY 6: Fira to Oia: 3 hours – Start your day with a short hop by bus to Fira, the iconic whitewashed town perched high on the cliffs, which is the capital of Santorini. History buffs will enjoy the museum of prehistoric Thira and the Archaeological Museum, whilst others may prefer to just take a little longer over lunch.
