From the beaches of Montego Bay and the pirate ruins of Kingston to the mountains of Mandeville, Jamaica’s beauty attracts millions of tourists every year. A popular cruise stop, vacationers come to jump off the cliffs of Negril, to climb Dunns River falls, and drink Blue Mountain coffee.
Most do not venture beyond the resort gates, where the real Jamaica cries out for hope.
Hit hard by hurricanes, drought, and widespread poverty, the country of Jamaica is far from the paradise it appears to be.
High in the hills, families crowd into ramshackle houses, little more than sheds. And those families are the lucky ones. Homelessness is rampant, and mothers abandon children they can’t feed.
Many Jamaicans turn to false gods to answer their desperate pleas for help.
Jamaica needs hope now more than ever.

Ministry:
While in Jamaica, you will:
Your team will serve with local camp ministry doing VBS and community outreach, coming alongside their own youth during their summer ministry outreach training. This will look like:
- Relationships: The most powerful form of ministry is through relationship. You’ll get to know these students, share stories, laughter, and adventure together. Who knows, you might even make a friend for life!
- Discipleship: As you serve alongside these students, you’ll pray together, study God’s Word together, and worship together. You’ll hold each other accountable and encourage each other, growing together in what it means to be a Christian in today’s world.
- Missional Living: As missionaries on a mission trip, you will partner with and help future missionaries and leaders to various communities throughout Jamaica – teens just like you!
Your team will leave the glitter of the tourist areas behind and instead be immersed in the real Jamaica. You will experience firsthand the deep need of the forgotten. You will show love and bring promise to the brokenhearted. And you’ll deepen your own faith in the process.
In the true Jamaican way of “No worries, mon,” plans tend to change. An open heart and a willingness to check your expectations at the door and serve where the need arises will ensure that you have an adventure to remember in Jamaica. You might even have the opportunity to climb the breathtaking Dunn’s River Falls on a free day.
