Florida Disaster Relief  Experts say that Hurricane Ian is the strongest storm on record to ever hit southwest Florida. On September 28, Floridians braced for impact as the Category 4 storm roared ashore with 155 mph winds. The storm has caused flooding along the coast, homes destroyed and damaged, uprooted and scattered trees and debris, and many other damages to the area.  Adventures in Missions has partnerships with local churches and pastors who know the needs of their communities. We are continuing to assess the damages across the impacted areas to meet emergency needs of home repairs, debris removal, and more.  As roads begin to clear and families begin to return home, local communities and survivors are in desperate need of assistance to bring life back to the…

Appalachia The Appalachian mountains are worldly known for their natural beauty. Steep wooded hills, narrow valleys and winding streams, make the Appalachian mountains a beautiful natural wonder of the world. Endowed with abundant natural resources, the Appalachian people, however, fight daily for freedom from poverty and despair; living below the poverty line as compared to the national average. Drugs, alcohol, poor health, and struggles of educational attainment, are the daily battles they face. Their families are now being raised as a “culture of poverty,” which has led to jobless households, and poverty-stricken communities. The people of the Appalachian mountains come from a strong heritage of hard working people, but years of discouragement have taken its toll on th…

Ministry Backdrop The Adventures Base in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) has been there for almost 20 years! This long-term Base focuses on orphan care and has created different hubs called Carepoints that focus on local infrastructure, discipleship, church growth, and sustainability projects. Ravaged by the HIV/AIDS pandemic, Eswatini has the highest HIV/AIDS rate in the world, leaving thousands of children — 12% of the population — without parents. In addition, 40% of all Swazis live on less than $1.25 per day, which is below the international poverty line. But we believe God has a redemptive plan for Eswatini. The key to a nation’s future is its children — in the care for their physical well being, the fulfillment of basic needs like…

The Dominican Republic (DR) shares the island Hispaniola with the country of Haiti. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Nearly 80% of the country’s 49,000 sq. km. is covered with mountains, but some 20 different topographical areas exist in the country.  The DR is the second largest country in the Caribbean with around 11 million people. As it may look from the outside that the DR is a thriving tourist destination bringing in around a billion dollars annually. The reality is that over 40% of the country is living in poverty, earning less than $1.50 a day and causing much heartache and suffering.  Adventures will be flying into the Cibao International Airport which is located in Santiago in the North part of the island. We will take a 20 minute bus…

You are being given the opportunity to join your Racer on the field and experience a taste of the World Race. Their journey has been marked by many unique experiences, feelings, and changes. And in many ways, you have been traveling with your Racer each step of the way, often sharing in those new things. You have probably discovered the Race is so much more than a mission trip – it’s a journey into God’s heart and the identity He designed each of us to walk in. Our goal is to not only allow you to experience the World Race with your son or daughter by doing mission work together, but to be able to connect in the midst of their journey to better understand how God is at work in their lives. We also want to share the greater vision of what God is doing around the world b…

Through your work and our fantastic partners in Rural Mississippi, Christ’s love is saturating the surrounding communities. At this location we partner together with a local ministry that has been established for decades. The trusted relationships that have been developed will allow you to engage quickly and deeply with others. A stark contrast from city or suburban life, this rural community sticks to the simplicity of life. The long history of racism is still palpable between the Native Americans, the black and the white communities. Poverty is also a very obvious issue as many families live in rundown homes and have little access to resources. What an incredible backdrop for ministry! Our partners’ diligence, love and continued presence in the community expresses itself…
