AMB 2019 – Dominican Republic

You want to live a life that matters. You want to feel significant, empowered, and for your life to count for something. You read about the way the followers of Jesus lived in the first century, and you long for that kind of life — where living out your faith means hearing the voice of God and changing people’s lives.

You want to go the next level with God. You want a changed life.

Adventures in Missions has taken more than 115,000 people on mission trips around the world. Through various short and long-term programs, we have dedicated our lives to helping people from all walks of life discover the world, who Jesus is, and what Jesus has called them to: to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28) and be his witness to the ends of the earth (Acts 1).

Imagine experiencing firsthand how to listen to the voice of God, serve others in high-need ministry contexts, and make a real, tangible difference in the lives of others.

If you want to join a Christ-centered community committed to doing what the first generation of disciples did: Sharing the Gospel, feeding the hungry, healing the sick, and hearing the voice of God… then it’s time for you to join us in…

The Dominican Republic shares an island with Haiti and has become a refuge for thousands of displaced people. Although known for its vast sugar plantations, the nation’s economy depends on tourism. Political corruption is a lasting issue, along with the expanding gap between wealthy and poor. A favorite pastime the Dominican Republic is baseball, and the kids will play it all day long! They fully embrace the “island life” and the people are extremely friendly and laid back—quick to welcome and enter into a conversation.

The people of the DR love deeply—and are searching for love themselves.

Ministry

  • Kids Ministry: VBS for local children as well as sports ministry
  • Church Ministry: Participate in evening church services and church plants by sharing messages, testimonies, and songs.
  • Work projects: Cleaning, picking up trash, and construction around the church property and the community.

Lodging

Teams will stay in local apartments. There will be no furniture, so you should plan to bring sleeping pads. There will be running water and electricity, but these will sometimes not work for hours at a time since it is a developing city. Showers will be available but sometimes water isn’t!

God is calling you to journey with Him, to share His love with the nations and establish His Kingdom on earth. Will you join Him in the Dominican Republic?

Pray for the Dominican Republic

Evangelical Christians have increased from 2% in 1970 to nearly 17% in 2010. The Association of Evangelicals is providing good leadership. Pray for continued growth in the gospel witness.
