An adventures awaits you in Appalachia!
Despite vast natural resources, and a beauty beyond measure, Appalachia remains trapped in despair. The people here need hope.
Unemployment tracks higher than the national average, and even more people in this area of such natural beauty work in low-paying jobs below their skill level. Outsourcing and mechanization have left many residents jobless, poverty-stricken, and lacking in educational resources.
The people of the Appalachian mountains are strong and come from a legacy of hard work, but years of discouragement have taken their toll. Many people work multiple jobs, collect government aid, and sacrifice just to make ends meet.
The people of Appalachia need help restoring their promise of a better future.
Ministries like the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, the Boys and Girls Clubs, and local food banks have a long term presence in the area. Their biggest need is for teams to help them with organization and construction projects so they can minister more effectively. Ministry here looks different every day, but with open hearts and willing hands your group could do a lot to serve the people of Appalachia.
By following God’s direction each day, your team could meet longstanding needs of the Appalachian people that they’ve hesitated to make known. If you’re bold enough to ask and willing to do what God prompts, you can make a big difference in someone’s life here.
And surrounded by the beauty of creation, time in the Appalachian Mountains will offer you and your team the opportunity to reconnect with God and deepen your faith.
Desperate for both hope and help, the people of Appalachia need to hear the good news of the Gospel and see the compassion of Jesus brought to life.
Will you be the one to share the love of Jesus and help the people of this region find peace?
