Join a Beauty for Ashes trip to Costa Rica! (Women Only)
A hot spot for surfing, Costa Rica is an adventure seeker’s paradise. Between its stunning beaches, lush rainforests, and beautiful people, it’s easy to enjoy “pura vida” there.
Outside of the tourist destinations, however, are large pockets of poverty and broken families throughout the nation, especially in the capitol of San Jose. Social issues like gang activity and teenage pregnancies are widespread in these areas—in fact, in 2012, the community of Barrio Sinai had the most pregnant teen mothers in the nation.
Those living in poverty and feeling vulnerable—especially the women, children, and teens—need to know that God sees them, He loves them deeply, and He is the one who can provide for all of their needs.
Beauty for Ashes exists to share God’s restoration, hope, and healing with suffering and victimized women through ministry and training. Through Beauty for Ashes Retreats, women support and encourage each other by sharing their own stories and experiencing the healing, redeeming power of Jesus.
You will partner with a local ministry dedicated to working with children and women in Barrio Sinai, empowering them through education, practical life skills, and most importantly, through spiritual teaching and development.
Your team will:
- Be trained to help host Beauty for Ashes retreats, allowing God to bring hope, healing, and redemption to your story.
- Learn from the testimonies of those on your team, as you grow closer to the Lord and minister to one another.
- Facilitate retreat activities with the local Costa Rican women and be a part of what God is doing to restore their lives and stories.
- Learn to share about topics such as worth, identity, healing and forgiveness with others, through storytelling and vulnerability.
- Build meaningful relationships with your team and those whom you minister to, and leave with a deeper understanding of who God is, and who you are as His daughter.
