Teams urgently needed to support revival meetings and North American Indian Days

Each June, our partner church hosts a very successful revival on the Blackfeet Reservation. This July, they also want to invest in ministry to tribal elders and local youth during North American Indian Days. The huge celebration of the Blackfeet Nation draws tribal bands from both sides of the US/Canadian border.  This summer, we want to bring teams to support them with both events.

Supporting our partner church’s revival, your team will serve June 21-28, 2014. Revival meetings tend to be family affairs, typically lasting for two or more hours in the evening. Attending parents are thrilled with the worship, the message, and a fresh encounter with the Holy Spirit. Meanwhile, restless children from toddlers to teens leave their seats to talk and play.

But this distraction and challenge for host church members is an opportunity for a mission team! It’s a chance to help the church and work with local kids. You’ll probably meet some of the same kids during the day while helping with the church’s Bible Camp. Also, you’ll help our partner stage a day and a half of special activities for his rez-wide youth wrestling program.

The support team for North American Indian Days will serve July 5-12, 2014.  Construction of tents and tipis on the pow-wow campgrounds demands a lot of sacrifice and sweat. Digging post holes, stretching canvas, erecting tipis to very exacting standards, and unloading tables and chairs, all take time and energy. The offer of extra, unexpected help brings grateful smiles and the potential for new friendships.

Your team will also help the tribe stage Blackfeet Youth Day, an annual celebration of tribal teens in carnival and games. A turnout of several hundred youth, from local and Canadian tribal bands, provides your chance to “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16.
