Mission team needed to support summer day camp workers

The Nespelem people are one of the 12 Confederated Tribes that live on the Colville Indian Reservation in Washington. Their tribal headquarters is in the town of Nespelem, Washington, where the Nespelem Community Center was built to serve as the community’s social activities hub.

Children are an important part of the Nespelem community. Until last year, a summer day camp program was in place to give them a safe, fun activity to do. The Community Center director wants to reinstate the day camp program, and there is a need for energetic leaders and youth workers to staff the camp. Your group will design a week of fun activities for the kids and run the program with the help of community leaders. The Community Center also needs cleaning, repairs, and help with event set-up.

Adventures in Missions has an established relationship with the leaders of the Nespelem community, and you could help build on that foundation. You’ll be readily accepted into the community and find it easy to get to know the Nespelem people. You may even have the opportunity to visit the local correctional facility where you can perform skits, songs, and puppet shows, and share your hearts with those who are broken and incarcerated. Bring your group to help the Nespelem people reach the ones in most need in their community this summer.
