Florida is legendary for its retirees, but it has also seen tremendous growth in a younger population seeking an easier life. Fewer than one-third of Florida’s residents were born there, bringing the diverse influence of regional cultures and traditions into one melting pot.
Southeastern Florida’s Gold Coast parades tremendous wealth for all to see, but many people of Florida live in poverty. In fact, over half of all births in the state were paid for by the state’s Medicaid program.
For the middle class, recent economic struggles have challenged their finances and their faith. Some who lost their sight of God in favor of materialism and fun in the sun are turning back to him.
You can help Floridians rediscover joy and hope in the shade of God’s love.
Your team may conduct sports ministry on the beach, teaching volleyball, soccer and bocce. You might organize sandy treasure hunts for children in Vacation Bible School.
You could also partner with urban children’s ministry groups to reach kids exposed every day to drugs, crime, and violence, and show them the grace and promise of a better future through Christ.
