Dramatic desert landscapes, snowy Andean hikes, beautiful blue coastline, and lush Amazon rainforest all make up the diverse South American country of Peru.
Even though the fingerprint of our Creator is all over this country, its people are intertwined in a fusion of Catholicism and traditional native religions. Just under a third of the population live in poverty, with the selective prosperity based largely on the narcotic drug trade.
Many of the people in the Amazon River communities where your ministry will take place do not get visitors often – especially ones that bring the hope of the gospel. You will have the opportunity to bring love and joy to these communities and families.
Come prepared to trade daily showers and comfortable beds for river bathing, jungle hiking, and following the voice of the Holy Spirit into some of Peru’s most remote locations.
The need is great, and your opportunities to serve are endless. Ministry begins where your passions and the needs of the Peruvian people meet. You may teach English, Bible, guitar, or business classes. You could build relationships with the youth through sports ministry. You might find yourself in the role of an evangelist or serving the community through manual labor. Whatever you do, bring the Peruvian people hope and a reminder of God’s good plans for their future.
