PP Fall 2016: Honduras

Honduras is full of history and beauty. From its mountains to ancient Mayan ruins to the sea, the country offers the diverse environment you expect in Central America.

Masked by its beauty, the Honduran people are struggling.

Honduras is home to over eight million people, with 36 percent of the population under the age of 14. It’s also the third poorest country in the region, with 50 to 60 percent of the labor force either unemployed or underemployed.

Many families struggle daily to meet their basic needs, so they send their kids to the streets to beg or steal. The youth often join gangs and abuse drugs, such as paint thinner, to get high.

Ministry:

While in Honduras, your ministry will look like:

  • Children’s Home: You will serve in a children’s home for girls who’ve been abused, abandoned, and/or have special needs. However, while the majority of the residents are girls, there is a big need for them to interact with godly men.
  • Construction Projects: Guys will also help out with construction projects on dorms, intern living quarters, as well as going out into the village and doing ministry there (girls will also be able to participate in this ministry).

The opportunities to help the people of Honduras are many. Will you join us in bringing Christ’s love to this nation?
