PP Summer 2017 Costa Rica

Behind the “Rich Coast” and thick rainforests in this beautiful country lies the challenge of a nation in transition.

Costa Rica is an adventure-seeker’s paradise. Its diverse plant and animal life, stunning beaches, and rainforest zip line tours attract thousands of tourists each year.

This rapidly developing country is one of the most stable, as well as most visited regions, in Central America.

Because of the growing tourism industry, many Costa Rican families have abandoned self-sufficient farming lifestyles for the work opportunities available in larger cities. As a result, the country finds itself in the midst of a significant cultural change.

For those elevated in status by foreign investment, traditional morals and lifestyles have given way to a modern, consumer-oriented world. For those left behind, suffering and poverty remain.

The people of Costa Rica need to remember the unchanging love of Jesus—and that it is still real and relevant to their lives.

Ministry:

While in Costa Rica, you will partner with a local church deeply involved with reaching its community with the love and hope of Christ. Your ministry might include:

  • Kids Ministry: Through visiting local schools to VBS or sports, you’ll have the opportunity to share the love of Christ through the language they best understand: love.
  • Community Outreach: You could go door-to-door on home visits or help with minor work projects. Whatever it is, it’ll be a need the church sees in the local community, and will be an opportunity to encourage someone and build a relationship with someone who might feel alone or is in need.

No matter what a day of ministry looks like, you will have opportunities to encourage everyone you meet with the hope of Christ.

Will you join the Church in Costa Rica in reaching their communities for Jesus?
