South Asia

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of South Asia? The Taj Mahal? Gandhi? Curry?  Bollywood? Slumdog Millionaire? The Oscar-winning movie shed light on the reality of the injustices that poverty breeds.

Unfortunately, the happy ending of this movie is fiction.

South Asia, in a word, is eclectic – in language, foods, and fashion. The opportunities you’ll find for ministry will be just as eclectic.

Perhaps you already know about the poverty, the persecution of Christians, and the injustices (like forced prostitution and labor) that plague South Asia. On this trip, you’ll work with established Christian ministries in southeastern South Asia not only to do something about these issue but to share the gospel as you love and serve.

You’ll focus on special needs orphans who have been neglected and abandoned by their community for most of their lives. Other opportunities to minister will likely include working with local congregations, sharing meals with local pastors and maybe even having the opportunity to help plant a new church.

You might be called to serve visibly –perhaps by preaching on a Sunday. You’ll spend a lot of time getting low – in the dirt, playing with children, washing the feet of downtrodden women, or simply listening to one man share his life story with you.

This is your opportunity to grow beyond your current level of knowledge, and discover hands-on God’s heart for this corner of South Asia.
