STM- 2016 El Camino Womens Trip

Adventure awaits you in Spain!

Life with Jesus is about the journey.

As women, we move quickly through life. In the midst of serving and doing good in the world, we often forget to take time to refuel. The El Camino Santiago: The Way of St. James is journey about slowing down, intentionally engaging in conversation and taking each moment with reflection and purpose.

Experience discipleship using the ancient tradition of pilgrimage, building relationships along the way. Get outside of your limits and walk a path where thousands have walked before. Gather with women and talk about what real community and life looks like. What does it mean to be a woman in today’s society and actively seek the Lord?

During this 7-day trek, you will learn to find your strength in God and to focus on true discipleship in community.

Your team will journey the last portion of the French Way, an historic Spanish pilgrimage traversed by thousands. Hike over 60 miles of scenic beauty and cultural wonder to gain the Compostela de Santiago, the official passport stamp of the pilgrimage.

We will fly into Santiago, Spain on September 1, and begin our journey the following day. Each night we will be staying in a local Bed and Breakfast, in the morning we will gather, pray, pack our lunch, while luggage will be transferred onward to our next location. Upon arrival in each new village there will be time to explore, rest, debrief our day and find the perfect dinner spot.

The itinerary is as follows:

Sep 1: Private transfer from Santiago Airport to Sarria accommodation departing at 6pm and overnight in Sarria

Sep 2: Journey to Portomarin, 22 km

Sep 3: Journey to Palas de Rei, 24 km

Sep 4: Journey to Arzua, 28 km

Sep 5: Journey to Rua, 19 km

Sep 6: Journey to Santiago de Compostela, 20 km

Sep 7: Additional night in Santiago – Attend Midday Pilgrims Mass at Cathedral

Sep 8: Onward travel

All along the trail, you’ll experience unique, spontaneous ministry opportunities as you grow close to other hikers and speak into their lives. Seek and find where God is growing you when you find you have nothing more to depend on but him, and grow with like-minded travelers searching together for a deeper faith.
