STM 2017 Cambodia (Phnom Penh)

An adventure awaits you in Cambodia!

Nestled between Thailand and Vietnam, Cambodia boasts one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the temple Angkor Wat. However, the delicious food, beautiful scenery, and kind nature of the people mark the true wonders of this small country.

Cambodia is struggling to heal the scars from one of the worst genocides in modern history. In just a three-year period, one of every five people died, decimating the population and trapping the people in terror. With a predominantly Buddhist culture, Cambodians struggle for hope for the future.

The hopelessness of the people left behind is unimaginable to much of the Western world.

Faced with inconceivable poverty, the desperate people of Cambodia turn to the only resource they believe they have left: their bodies. Debt schemes trap women in prostitution, and mothers often sell their daughters for meager sums of money. Children are traded as commodities and used to satisfy the twisted desires of others.

Cambodia is searching for healing from incredible pain.

Ministry:

  • Learn and Encourage: Meet NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) and ministries on the frontlines of anti-trafficking in Phnom Penh. You will learn firsthand what is going on and encourage those dedicated to ending modern day slavery in Cambodia.
  • Intercession: As you walk the streets, stroll the riverfront, or tour the local temples, you will intercede for this nation and for its most priceless treasure – the children.
  • Relational Ministry: You will have opportunities to meet young women and men who were trafficked and now are in Aftercare, serving in restaurants, nail salons, and other businesses. You’ll share the love of Christ in every conversation and interaction.

Will you go share the light, hope, and love of Jesus in a hurting country?
