STM 2017 Spain- El Camino Men’s Trip

An adventure awaits you in Spain!

Life with Jesus is about the journey.

As men, we move quickly through life. In the midst of providing for our families and doing good in the world, we often forget to take time to refuel. This trip along the El Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) is a journey about slowing down, intentionally engaging in conversation, and taking each moment with reflection and purpose.

Experience discipleship using the ancient tradition of pilgrimage, building relationships along the way. Get outside of your limits and walk a path where thousands have walked before. Gather with men and talk about what real community and life looks like.

What does it mean to be a man in today’s society and actively seek the Lord?

Join us on this 8 day trip, where you will spend 5 days trekking along El Camino. Learn to find your strength in God and to focus on true discipleship in community.

Your team will journey the last portion of the French Way, an historic Spanish pilgrimage traversed by thousands. Hike over 60 miles of scenic beauty and cultural wonder to gain the Compostela de Santiago, the official passport stamp of the pilgrimage.

We will fly into Santiago, Spain on June 4, and begin our journey the following day. Each night we will be staying in a local Bed and Breakfast, in the morning we will gather and pray, while luggage will be transferred onward to our next location. Upon arrival in each new village there will be time to explore, rest, debrief our day and find the perfect dinner spot.

The itinerary is as follows:

June 4: Private transfer from Santiago Airport to Sarria accommodation departing at 6pm and overnight in Sarria

June 5: Journey to Portomarin, 22 km / 13.7 miles

June 6: Journey to Palas de Rei, 24 km / 14.9 miles

June 7: Journey to Arzua, 28 km / 17.4 miles

June 8: Journey to Rua, 19 km / 11.8 miles

June 9: Journey to Santiago de Compostela, 20 km / 12.4 miles

June 10: Additional night in Santiago – Attend Mid-day Pilgrims Mass at Cathedral (or Free Day)

June 11: Onward travel

*Cost does not include airfare or dinners while on the Camino.

All along the trail, you’ll experience unique, spontaneous ministry opportunities as you grow close to other hikers and speak into their lives. Seek and find where God is growing you when you find you have nothing more to depend on but him, and grow with like-minded travelers searching together for a deeper faith.
