STM 2018 Cambodia (Base)

You want to live a life that matters. You want to feel significant, empowered, and for your life to count for something. You read about the way the followers of Jesus lived in the first century, and you long for that kind of life — where living out your faith means hearing the voice of God and changing people’s lives.

You want to go to the next level with God. You want a changed life.

Adventures in Missions has taken more than 115,000 people on mission trips around the world. Through various short and long-term programs, Adventures In Missions helps people from all walks of life discover the world, who Jesus is, and what Jesus has called them to: making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28) and being his witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1).

Imagine experiencing firsthand how to listen to the voice of God, serve others in high-need ministry contexts, and make a real, tangible difference in the lives of others.

If you want to join a Christ-centered community committed to doing what the first generation of disciples did, then it’s time for you to join us in…

Cambodia boasts one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the temple Angkor Wat. Hidden for centuries under dense jungle, today Angkor Wat is one of most photographed places in the world. Despite its popularity as a tourist destination, Cambodia itself is struggling to heal from one of the worst genocides in modern history. In the 1970s, the Khmer Rouge killed over 1.5 million men, women, and children. Faced with inconceivable poverty and desperation, Cambodia became a source, transit point, and destination for human trafficking.

The people of Cambodia are hungry for hope and healing. Will you share it with them?

Ministry

While in Cambodia, you will partner with our long-term base through:

  • Learn and Encourage: You will learn firsthand what is going on and encourage those dedicated to ending modern-day slavery in Cambodia.
  • Hospitality Ministry: You will serve at our long-term base, Overflow Guesthouse, an up-and-coming guesthouse outside of Siem Reap (home to Angkor Wat). Your focus will be Business-as-Missions, in addition to occasional partnerships with local ministries in the area.
  • Intercession and Relational Ministry: As you walk the streets, tour Angkor Wat, or walk to a local cafe, you will intercede for this nation and for its most priceless treasure – the children. Everywhere you go and every conversation will be an opportunity to share God’s love with someone who does not know Him.

God is calling you to journey with Him, to share His love with the nations and establish His Kingdom on earth. Will you join Him in Cambodia?

Pray for Cambodia

Pray for the less-reached. The window of opportunity that now sees many enter the Kingdom may not stay open for much longer; the opportunities must be urgently seized. Pray for:

a) The Buddhist majority. Buddhism has lost some of its monopolistic grip on the people, but reactionary forces are moving against the clearly noticeable growth of the Church.

b) The Cham, almost entirely Muslim. The majority practice folk Islam, which incorporates animistic practices into more orthodox Islamic practices; within this is a strong strain of Fojihed Islam, which is rife with pre-Islamic magic and superstitions. There are a few Christians; pray for them to be gathered into fellowship together. Khmer Christians have not yet met this evangelistic challenge; pray also for wisdom for those already reaching out to the Cham.

c) The tribal peoples. Only among the Mnong, Jarai, Krueng and Stieng have significant numbers come to Christ. A further 18 Southeast Asian peoples can be considered unevangelized; pray for loving and appropriate witness to these peoples.
