STM 2019 South Africa

Adventures in Missions has taken more than 115,000 people on mission trips around the world. Through various short and long-term programs, Adventures helps people from all walks of life discover the world, who Jesus is, and what He has called them to: making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28) and being His witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1).

You want to do something that matters. You want to feel empowered and to make an impact on the world around you. You read about the way the followers of Jesus lived in the first century, and something in you is longing to do more – to live out your faith, hear the voice of God, and display His love to those who need it.

You want to go deeper in your relationship with God. You want to see lives changed.

Imagine experiencing firsthand how to listen to the voice of God, serve others in high-need ministry contexts, and make a real difference in the lives of others.

If you want to join a Christ-centered community committed to doing what the first generation of disciples did, then it’s time for you to join us in…

Known for soccer, safaris, and shark diving, South Africa is the southernmost country in Africa. It’s a land of adventure. It’s also land of deep pain. Although it is one of the wealthiest countries on the continent, much of the population living outside the cities struggle with poverty. Like the rest of sub-Saharan Africa, this country struggles with a high rate of AIDS/HIV.

Ministry

You will partner with a local ministry Impact Africa, whose ministry is built off of the three A’s: The Approach, The Assist, and The Advance. Impact Africa will train you on each of these and you will have the opportunity to put them into practice.

  • Evangelism: You will have the opportunity to visit the homes of the local community and share your faith as your build relationships.

  • Community Development: Helping local communities work towards sustainability, and the opportunity to impact a neighborhood while making relationships.

  • Children’s Ministry: You’ll partner with a ministry working with Zulu kids doing a children’s program, sharing the love of Christ through kids’ favorite language: fun. You will be able to act out/narrate Biblical stories, teach a memory verse, play games, sing songs and ultimately end with presenting the Gospel to both the children and parents in attendance.

  • Medical Outreach: Depending on the team size and dynamic, you could also have the opportunity to visit the clinics with our Baby Rescue Team to raise awareness about other options available to young mothers and pray over the sick.

*There is also the possibility of a safari on the off day (not included in your trip cost)!

Lodging

You and your team will stay at a retreat center with bunk beds, a dining hall, western toilets, and lots of free space! Water and electricity are available, but power outages happen on occasion. Limited wifi access is available.

God is calling you to journey with Him, to share His love with the nations and establish His Kingdom on earth. Will you join Him in South Africa?

Pray for South Africa

Reconciliation among all races. This applies not just to black-white dynamics, but also to coloured and Indian peoples as well as to relationships among various black ethnicities. The “rainbow nation” must still deal with contempt, mistrust and deep-seated hurts and fears among peoples of this diverse but troubled land. Pray that the Church might lead the way by living out the truth of oneness in Christ Jesus.
