The first sub-Saharan nation to gain their independence, their history is of fighting for freedom. 

A primary exporter of gold, diamonds, and petroleum, Ghana has a successful economy. It has one of the highest school enrollment rates in all of Africa. People from other nations in Africa travel to Ghana for better medical care.

However, poverty is still widespread in the rural areas, where families still lack basic needs, like food, clean water, and safe shelter.

City of Refuge Ministries works with orphaned, abandoned, and trafficked children in Ghana. At the heart of their ministry is to “raise up a generation to love like Christ”. They are seeking followers of Jesus who desire to pour the love of Christ into their children and community this May through putting together a VBS program and participating in community-based evangelism opportunities. Be bold, be brave, and be willing to share the love of Christ!”
