A tragic truth lurks among the stark beauty of the African hills.
The beauty of Swaziland, a tiny nation tucked in between South Africa and Mozambique, surprises most people. Long rolling hills, mountainous regions and even a corner of rainforest to the north demonstrate the splendor that will be found in this less-traveled area.
While these incredibly breath-taking geographical features may remain a well-kept secret, Swaziland has one tragic secret it cannot hide: AIDS.
No country has been more ravaged by this deadly disease. With the highest rate of AIDS infection in the world, AIDS has affected almost every family in Swaziland.
Poverty is rampant, and families infected with HIV have no resources to strengthen their bodies and treat the disease. Forty percent of Swazi children have been orphaned because of infected parents. Mothers are widowed, left with no means to support their ravaged families.
These statistics continue to increase at an alarming rate, and these women and children are often left malnourished, uneducated and without hope.
The widows and orphans devastated by AIDS in Swaziland need you.
During your time in Africa, you will serve those left behind by the AIDS pandemic.
You can bring lifesaving nutrition to hundreds of orphans each day as you serve meals at local care points. You might visit the homes of the poor and dying, listening to their stories and encouraging their souls with the grace and acceptance that they can find in Jesus.
You will bring joy back to the resilient Swazi people as you show them that they are precious to God.
Will you bring a future with Christ to the orphans and widows that AIDS has left behind?
***You will need to arrive the night before the start of your trip. Lodging will be provided as well as transportation to and from the lodging location in Johannesburg. The bus will arrive from Swaziland on the first day of your trip to take you to your ministry site in Swaziland.***
