AI 2017: Zuni – Dusty Pines Work Camp – Gallup, NM

Dusty Pines Camp, out in the forest between Gallup and the Zuni Nation, provides a safe and loving haven for a group of local, Native youth who have chosen to follow Jesus – in spite of the verbal and sometimes physical persecution they know awaits them from family, former friends, and the community in general.

But, with the support of Christian teachers, mentors, and each other, they are able to persevere and grow in their faith.

One day, they will be leaders in their community.

Ministry:

The camp provides a refuge for the hundreds of Native campers who flock here each summer, and it takes people like you who are willing to roll up your sleeves and serve behind the scenes to keep the camp running.

  • Youth Ministry: Your team will meet with these teens when you attend church in Zuni on Sunday, and when you attend their Wednesday evening Youth Group meeting, as well as a possible youth group outing.
  • Service Projects: There are a variety of work projects around the camp needing volunteers, like a new septic tank and leech field, new shower house facility, remodel interiors of two, old mobile homes to be used as camp dorms, build a screened-in picnic shelter. So, skilled building trades people are much needed. But, work projects vary in skills demanded so youth teams are also able to contribute significantly.

By acting as the hands and feet of God you are creating an opportunity to change entire communities! Interested? We welcome you to dive in, roll up your sleeves and change lives with us!
