From the Andes mountains to the Amazon Jungle, Peru’s beauty will amaze you! While Peru’s cities are very modern, life along the Amazon River is very different. People live in straw huts and eat from the land (and river!), just as their ancestors did centuries ago. There are entire villages deep in the jungle who have never heard of Jesus.
Will you be the one to share the name of Jesus to someone for the first time?
Ministry
A village in the Amazon Rainforest will be your home base.
- You may boat down the river or hike jungle trails to do evangelism and children’s ministry, which could include anything from VBS to a soccer game.
- You could teach English or give guitar lessons.
- You’ll live your faith while living in the Amazon Jungle, boating down the river, and visiting local markets.
- You’ll meet people who live simply and love richly; they will welcome you with open arms, and consider you part of their families! Be prepared to be fed a lot!

Pray for Peru
Foreign missions in Peru have passed through difficult times, especially missions from the USA (over half of the missionary force in Peru). Anti-US bias, accusations of espionage, some lack of cultural sensitivity make answering the call challenging. The majority of missionary effort is rightly directed to pioneer work in the eastern jungle, Bible translation, leadership training and the developing of holistic ministry. Pray over the long-term missionaries who face these struggles daily.
