Nicaragua has been called the land of lakes and volcanoes. Thick rainforests, rugged highlands, beautiful beaches, and fertile hills define the country’s beautiful landscape. Its rich history dates back to the Spanish conquistadores.
As the poorest nation in Central America, almost 80% of Nicaraguans live on less than $2 a day. More than half the population lives beneath the poverty line. One in four Nicaraguans is starving or suffering from malnutrition.
The women of Nicaragua need the encouragement of knowing they are seen and loved by God.
Beauty for Ashes exists to share God’s restoration, hope, and healing with suffering and victimized women through ministry and training. Through Beauty for Ashes Retreats, women support and encourage each other by sharing their own stories and experiencing the healing, redeeming power of Jesus.
God is using Beauty for Ashes to ignite a movement of bringing hope to His daughters across the world. This is an opportunity for you to join a team to share God’s restoration, hope, and healing with the women of Nicaragua.

While in Nicaragua, you will partner with REAP Granada, an organization focused on Christ-centered development. REAP stands for: Restore, Educate, Activate, and Perpetuate. The main focus of the ministry is discipleship of individuals within the community. These goals are met through partnering with and serving alongside local pastors, churches, ministries, and organizations to strengthen and empower them in their efforts in the community. The efforts of the ministry are primarily focused on several under resourced communities on the outskirts of Granada.
Your team will:
- Be trained to help host Beauty for Ashes retreats, allowing God to bring hope, healing and redemption to your story.
- Learn from the testimonies of those on your team, as you grow closer to the Lord and minister to one another.
- Facilitate retreat activities with the local Nicaraguan women and be a part of what God is doing to restore their lives and stories.
- Learn to share about topics such as worth, identity, healing and forgiveness with others, through storytelling and vulnerability.
- Build meaningful relationships with your team and those whom you minister to, and leave with a deeper understanding of who God is, and who you are as His daughter.
