Zambia boasts one of the seven wonders of the world: the rushing heights of Victoria Falls, known as “the smoke that thunders”. It’s an entirely landlocked nation, touching eight sister countries and home to seventy-three tribes who speak twenty different languages.
Zambia became an independent nation in 1964 after years of British colonial rule. Since then, the economy has grown, but the Zambian people still suffer from poverty, short life expectancy, malnourishment, lack of clean water, and the AIDS crisis. Christianity is the official religion in Zambia, but the local church needs support for a solid Biblical foundation to raise up the next generation.
The women of Zambia need the encouragement of knowing they are seen and loved by God.
Beauty for Ashes exists to share God’s restoration, hope, and healing with suffering and victimized women through ministry and training. Through Beauty for Ashes Retreats, women support and encourage each other by sharing their own stories and experiencing the healing, redeeming power of Jesus.
God is using Beauty for Ashes to ignite a movement of bringing hope to His daughters across the world. This is an opportunity for you to join a team to share God’s restoration, hope, and healing with the women of Zambia.

While in Zambia, you will partner JZone. JZone works with various Churches both in urban and rural areas of Southern Province, Zambia, equipping and training the body of Christ.
JZone seeks to share God’s love, raise up leaders, and disciple through ministry to children ministry, students, orphans, and in medical missions to remote villages. They also work with widows, supporting ones in need and empowering them with business skills and the word of God.
Your team will:
- Be trained to help host Beauty for Ashes retreats, allowing God to bring hope, healing, and redemption to your story.
- Learn from the testimonies of those on your team, as you grow closer to the Lord and minister to one another.
- Facilitate retreat activities with the local Zambian women and be a part of what God is doing to restore their lives and stories.
- Learn to share about topics such as worth, identity, healing and forgiveness with others, through storytelling and vulnerability.
- Build meaningful relationships with your team and those whom you minister to, and leave with a deeper understanding of who God is, and who you are as His daughter.
- Enjoy the beauty of Africa while on a safari!
