Gainesville, GA – Youth

What Is Needed:

Located about an hour north of Atlanta, Gainesville is a city of about 30,000 people on Lake Lanier in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Because of its large number of poultry processing plants, it is often called the “Poultry Capital of the World.” The high-profile presence of the poultry industry in Gainesville has been the primary factor in driving the city’s startling growth. Over the past decade, the official population of the city has nearly doubled, with more than half of it made up of immigrant Hispanic workers.

What You Will Do:

Your team will have the opportunity to invest into the Gainesville community as you build relationships with those living there. Possible outreach opportunities may include evangelism in the community, teaching, one-on-one discipleship, home maintenance and repair for elderly and low-income families, children’s ministry and homeless ministry.  There will also be some ministry opportunities within the Hispanic community.

How You Can Pray:

-Pray that God would stir the hearts of the people in Gainesville to take action in their community.
-Pray that God will provide the Hispanic community of Gainesville with a sense of hope, despite discrimination and the poor circumstances they face.
-Pray that God will go before you and soften the hearts of the people of Gainesville who have rejected the gospel or might be resistant to your message of hope.

Food and Lodging:

Food is prepared on site. Lodging will be local camp facilities with outdoor showers and rustic toilets. Sleeping bags, bedding, and towels are recommended.
