South Asia B4A 2022

South Asia has one of the fastest growing economies in the world, but this growth comes at a cost. Despite a growing middle class, a terrible rift exists between the rich and poor of this mainly Hindu country. More than just dollars and lifestyles, this gap began generations ago in the caste system, and it has left the lower-caste people of South Asia without hope. In South Asian culture, daughters are viewed as costly. Not only is a girl’s family expected to pay the expense associated with raising her but a bride-price, although outlawed, is still commonly expected by her future husband’s family. In far too many cases, baby girls are killed or abandoned. Orphanages are filled with girls who have been dumped by their families and are desperate for love and attention. Women, in general, are treated as second-class citizens, as South Asia has a traditional, patriarchal society. They are expected to serve their husbands, as well as cook, clean, and take care of their children.

The women of South Asia need to know the truth about their worth and God’s great love for them.

Ministry Overview

In partnership with our Adventures South Asia Base, you will develop deep and meaningful relationships with the South Asian women you’ll minister to—and with your own team. You can invest your time, love, and energy into this community of women confident that your efforts will be sustainable because of the long term presence of our ongoing women’s ministry in South Asia.

Your team will:

  • Host Beauty for Ashes retreats, creating a space for God to bring hope, healing, and redemption to the stories of local women.

  • Be equipped to share about topics such as worth, identity, healing, and forgiveness with others through storytelling and vulnerability.

  • Build meaningful relationships with your team and those with whom you minister.

  • Gain a deeper understanding of who God is and who you are as His daughter.

Housing

Your team will spend the first and last couple of nights of your trip in Hyderabad at a local guesthouse. This lodging is comfortable and offers basic bedding, pillows, and towels to each participant.

For the remaining part of the trip, your team will travel to a village where lodging will be much more rustic. Everyone will need to provide their own sleeping pad, sleeping bag, pillow, and towel. Please be aware there will not be any western-style toilets or air conditioning, however, there will be fans and electricity.

You’ve got a story to tell. It’s significant, powerful, and you want it to count for something.

You know about women who are suffering and being victimized, and your heart breaks for them.

That’s exactly how Ruth and her team felt on the very first Beauty for Ashes trip in 2014. They wanted to see women set free from the lies they had believed for years. On that trip, Ruth met a woman named Nancy. She realized this new friend had a story in need of God’s redemption. After her time with Ruth, Nancy began believing God’s truth — her story does matter.

Psalm 107:2 says “Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.” Since 2014, Beauty for Ashes has reached over 5,000 women in 25 countries because of people like you, who are willing to share their story of redemption. We’ve hosted hundreds of retreats and small groups around the world, and have seen our curriculum proven as an effective tool God is using to foster lasting change in the lives of women.

God longs for His daughters to join Him in an intimate relationship. He desires to walk with them through healing and remind women of the identity and hope they have in Him.

If you want to join a Christ-centered community of women committed to taking God’s love to all of the nations, then it’s time for you to join us in South Asia.
