An adventure is waiting for you in St. Louis!
Looking for a way to serve people of different cultures and backgrounds but not sure about leaving the country? Great. St. Louis needs you.
That big, iconic arch stands here. That one Doobie Brother grew up here, as did Tina Turner and Miles Davis. The U.S. hosted the Olympics for the first time here.
But behind the culture and history there lies great need: St. Louis ranks among the top 20 cities with foreign refugees and its homeless population is growing.
Immigrants from nations like Bhutan and Somalia come to St. Louis with little more than the clothes on their backs and the hope of a better life. But rarely do these dreams of freedom and prosperity ever come true.
With unemployment rates escalating, the homeless and refugees find it increasingly difficult to settle into a comfortable life.
Local organizations and community services play a large role in supporting the homeless population here. Serve alongside operating ministries as you develop relationships with locals and immigrants alike.
While serving in St. Louis, you may befriend those on the streets or work at a thrift store giving hope and opportunity to the homeless. You might do community outreaches or see the sights, such as the Arch or City Garden.
St. Louis is waiting. Will you go?
