STM 2016 Guatemala

An adventure awaits you in Guatemala!

Guatemala is rich in natural beauty – from the shores of Lake Atitlan, to the peaks of its 37 volcanoes, this Central American nation is one of the most beautiful in the world.

Behind all this beauty lies the lingering pain of a 36-year civil war and several devastating natural disasters. These tragedies have left many Guatemalan people in extreme poverty, but the Guatemalan people take pride in their hospitality and warmly welcome visitors as long-lost friends.

Ministry:

While in Guatemala you will partner with our long-term base in Antigua, coming alongside the ministries they are involved in throughout the country:

  • Relational Evangelism: Connect with people and learn their personal stories. Develop relationships and bring hope to communities by prayer walking and visiting patients in hospitals.
  • Children’s Ministry: You might do VBS in local villages or schools, as well as visit an orphanage and share the love of Christ through kids’ favorite language: fun.
  • Community Outreach: You might be able to visit the city dump, one of the poorest areas of Guatemala, and share Christ through your time there.
  • Hospital Visits and Retirement Homes: You might visit a local cerebral palsy hospital or retirement home, giving hope to those who feel forgotten and discouraged.
  • Missional Living: While climbing a volcano, sipping coffee on at the Plaza Central, shopping in the market, or just walking the cobblestone streets, every person you see – tourist and local – will be an opportunity to tell of the love of Christ.

Be touched by the beauty of the people here. Get a first-hand glimpse of their joy in spite of their meager resources. Find your own heart changed.

Will you respond to the call to “go” and encourage the people of Guatemala?
