STM 2016 Montenegro

An adventure awaits you in Montenegro!

Known as “Black Mountain”, Eastern Europe’s Montenegro shares borders with Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia, and Albania. Formerly part of the Communist Yugoslavia, the nation is still recovering from the impact of Yugoslav wars of the 1990s.

With so many people groups living within this tiny nation; they are most united in their religion: over 70% practice Serbian Orthodoxy, while the Albanian citizens (19%) are Sunni Muslim.

Ethnic tension runs generations deep.

This is a country of deep wounds and even greater dreams; they are hungry for the hope and healing found through life in Jesus Christ.

Ministry:

While in Montenegro, you will partner with Phil and Tayna Smythe, missionaries from South Africa to Montenegro, and their ministry, Shiloh Ministries.

Shiloh ministries goal is to further expand, empower, and equip the Body of Christ in Montenegro by planting a church, Christian primary and secondary schools, and a Bible college.

  • Community Outreach: With the majority of Montenegrins being non-Christian, every person you meet will be an opportunity to share the love of Christ. You will walk the streets of Montenegro, visit tourist sites like the beach or medieval attractions, living and sharing your faith.
  • Bible Distribution: You could pass out Bibles in nearby villages.
  • Work Project: You could do a community service project or even beach clean up.
  • Prayer: Ministry on this trip will be highly relational and prayer-based, which is exactly what the people of Montenegro need to experience: life-changing faith and authentic relationships. You will listen to their stories, learn their names, meet their families, and feel your heart break for a people who do not know Jesus.

Will you share hope and healing with this broken people?
