Known for its diverse terrain of mountains, volcanoes, and beaches, the Philippines is a popular haven for tourists. A melting pot of cultures, religion, and tradition – the beautiful people of the Philippines are very diverse with influences from America, Spain, and many Asian countries. English is an official language of the Philippines, so language barriers are minimal.
More than a getaway for Westerners, this seven-thousand island archipelago is home to many Filipinos who earn under 15 cents per day. This classifies them as “ultra poor” on the poverty scale. A large Islam population and some 4.5 million others who have never heard the Gospel call the Philippines home.

Ministry: Jeff Long is the founder of Kids International Ministries (KIM). He has lived in the Philippines for more than 20 years and has developed his ministry in the Philippines to cover many areas and islands. Ministry opportunities will include working with KIM’s children’s home and toddler room: playing with the kids, playing sports, taking care of the toddlers including feeding, playing with and helping to love on them and develop their relational skills. Teams will also get to work with the schools that KIM has built to educate the community they work in.
In addition, your ministry might include:
- Sports Ministry: they love to play sports in the Philippines! While working with the school, you may do some sports camps to include basketball or volleyball.
- Working with at-risk girls: KIM also has a ‘rescue’ home for girls who have been verbally, physically and/or sexually abused. This home enables them to live together in a safe place and continue to pursue education and a healthy lifestyle.
- Feeding Ministry: KIM has feeding ministry twice a day throughout Manila and the mountain regions. This is an awesome opportunity to travel around a bit, to meet people and share with them about Jesus and why you came to the Philippines.
- More: Other ministry opportunities include a dental clinic, a birthing center, community outreaches, and swim lessons!
There are orphans longing to be loved, abused women and children looking for a listening ear, and destitute people in search of hope.
