But not everything in Rio de Janeiro is sun, sand, and music.
The beloved Christ the Redeemer statue stands high on a hill above this wealthy city. But as the world economy struggles, the divide between rich and poor in Rio widens. The growing homeless population in Rio feels forgotten.
The government wants the world to experience the fun-loving Rio of our imaginations, especially after hosting the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.
