STM 2018 Appalachia (Family Mission Trip)

Parents: You want more than a vacation — you want to adventure with your family. You want for your kids to feel significant, empowered, and for their efforts to count for something. You’ve read about the way the followers of Jesus lived in the first century, and you long for that kind of life, for you and your kids — where living out your faith means hearing the voice of God and changing people’s lives.

You want to take your family to the next level with God. You want changed lives.

Adventures in Missions has taken more than 115,000 people on mission trips around the world. Through various short and long-term programs, Adventures In Missions helps people from all walks of life discover the world, who Jesus is, and what Jesus has called them to: making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28) and being his witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1).

Imagine experiencing firsthand, with your family, how to listen to the voice of God, serve others in high-need ministry contexts, and make a real, tangible difference in the lives of others.

If you want to join a Christ-centered community committed to doing what the first generation of disciples did, then it’s time for you to join us in…

Despite vast natural resources and beauty beyond measure, Appalachia daily fights for freedom from poverty and despair. Unemployment tracks higher than the national average, and many people in this area work in low-paying jobs below their skill level. Many residents are jobless, poverty-stricken, and lacking in educational resources. The people of the Appalachian mountains are strong and come from a legacy of hard work, but years of discouragement have taken their toll. Many people work multiple jobs, collect government aid, and sacrifice just to make ends meet.

The people of Appalachia need help to restore their promise of a better future.

Ministry

While in Appalachia, you’ll work alongside Hunger First ministry, and opportunities include:

  • Building Relationships: Your primary ministry will be to the elderly, joining in games and crafts, singing songs, telling stories, and building relationships with those who feel forgotten.
  • Home Restoration/Work Projects: You will also partner with a non-profit ministry that helps with basic home repairs and cleaning to the elderly or homebound individuals. Most of all, you’ll build relationships with those isolated from society, reminding them that they are seen and loved by God.

Lodging

You’ll stay in a cabin with 40 beds, western toilets/showers and separate bathrooms for men and women. There will be a full kitchen where you’ll prepare your meals. There’s no electricity in the cabin, but the church has electricity and wifi.

God is calling you to journey with Him, to share His love with the nations and establish His Kingdom on earth. Will you join Him in Appalachia?
