STM 2018 Chicago

You want your youth group to feel like they matter. You want them to feel significant, empowered, and for their lives to count for something. You read about the way the followers of Jesus lived in the first century, and you long for that kind of life — where living out your faith means hearing the voice of God and changing people’s lives.

You want to take your youth to the next level with God. You want changed lives.

Adventures in Missions has taken more than 115,000 people on mission trips around the world. Through various short and long-term programs, Adventures In Missions helps people from all walks of life discover the world, who Jesus is, and what Jesus has called them to: making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28) and being his witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1).

Imagine experiencing firsthand how to listen to the voice of God, serve others in high-need ministry contexts, and make a real, tangible difference in the lives of others.

If you want to join a Christ-centered community committed to doing what the first generation of disciples did, then it’s time for you to join us in…

Millions of guests visit the Windy City each year to experience the shopping, restaurants, and world famous landmarks. The most diverse region in the Midwest, Chicago boasts over 200 ethnic and language groups. From the famous deep-dish pizza and Ukrainian borsch to dim sum in Chinatown, it’s all authentic. However, Chicago also remains one of the most segregated cities in the US. Racial tensions run high, and the homeless have overwhelmed the city’s resources. AIDS, prostitution, gang violence, and drug abuse feed a perpetual cycle of decay that haunts the city.

Chicago needs to experience the power of God to break the stronghold of poverty and hopelessness.

Ministry

You will partner with local churches in southern Chicago to share the hope and love of Jesus in a real and relevant way through:

  • Kids Ministry: Through VBS, sports ministry, arts and crafts, and just hanging out in local parks, you will build relationships with children in your neighborhood, teaching them the truth of God’s love through their favorite language: fun.
  • Homeless Ministry: You could volunteer at a local shelter that provides need-based evangelism, giving out everything from kitchen supplies to clothing to those who desperately need it. Through helping with laundry, serving meals, and other chores around the property, you’ll touch each person who comes through the doors.
  • Work Projects: There is also an opportunity for restoration projects within the city, working alongside community works programs. This could look like park clean up, maintenance at retirement homes, etc.
  • Community Outreach: from giving free snow cones in parks to starting conversations while riding the L, every moment, whether scheduled or an “off day”, will be an opportunity for sharing the love of Christ.
  • Urban Plunge: Share your faith while exploring the city! Ride the train, take in one of Chicago’s many museums, ride the giant Navy Pier Ferris Wheel, or grab a Chicago-style hot dog from one of the carts that dot downtown.

God is calling you to journey with Him, to share His love with the nations and establish His Kingdom on earth. Will you join Him in Chicago?
