STM 2018 Western PA

You want your youth group to feel like they matter. You want them to feel significant, empowered, and for their lives to count for something. You read about the way the followers of Jesus lived in the first century, and you long for that kind of life — where living out your faith means hearing the voice of God and changing people’s lives.

You want to take your youth to the next level with God. You want changed lives.

Adventures in Missions has taken more than 115,000 people on mission trips around the world. Through various short and long-term programs, Adventures In Missions helps people from all walks of life discover the world, who Jesus is, and what Jesus has called them to: making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28) and being his witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1).

Imagine experiencing firsthand how to listen to the voice of God, serve others in high-need ministry contexts, and make a real, tangible difference in the lives of others.

If you want to join a Christ-centered community committed to doing what the first generation of disciples did, then it’s time for you to join us in…

Just an hour outside of the bustling city of Pittsburgh lies a small town fighting for its life. Tucked in a valley of the Appalachian Mountains, the mining community of Johnstown, Pennsylvania struggles to survive. Throughout its history, tragic floods have repeatedly devastated the valley, killing thousands and driving residents and employers alike to higher ground. Recent economic growth has hinted at a recovery in Johnstown, but this area faces an uphill climb. Almost 20% of families live below the poverty line. Many face these circumstances without the hope of knowing Jesus.

Western Pennsylvania needs to be encouraged with a hope that has nothing to do with wealth, and everything to do with Christ.

Ministry

Your team will partner with those reaching out to the local community through ministries like:

  • Farm Ministry: Or you might serve a local missionary family, working on their goat farm – anything from fencing and weeding to playing with their Great Pyrenees puppies.
  • Adopt-a-block: You will partner with a local church reach out to the community through helping cleaning sidewalks, planting flowers, or passing out water while talking to the residents.
  • Nursing Home: You could also show love to the residents of a local nursing home through playing giant bowling, baking cookies, or just being a needed listening ear!

Lodging

You’ll stay at the church and you’ll sleep on the floor, so you’ll need to pack sleeping bags/bedding/air-mattress etc… There are 4 showers available, and you’ll have electricity and clean water. Wifi is a question-mark for now!

God is calling you to journey with Him, to share His love with the nations and establish His Kingdom on earth. Will you join Him in Western PA?
