STM 2018 Women’s Journey for Swaziland and South Africa

Life with Jesus is about the journey.

As women we spend our lives loving others and caring for their needs. If we are not careful, before we know it, we will lose touch with the greatest possible mission field — our own hearts.

Ministry doesn’t begin and end in the Church pew on Sunday; it should be a way of life and church planting should be a natural outpouring of our heart. On your journey you will be guided in discovering the Father’s voice for yourself and you will find the joy in praying for the locals as you build friendships that will last a lifetime.

Each day will begin in prayer. We’ll spend our mornings asking the Lord to guide us to those who might need us to cross their path.  We will spend our days praying over the communities we come in contact with, and in the evening we will gather to debrief and celebrate all that the Father has done in us and for us.

You will be forever changed by seeing the hand of God move on a daily basis with you and your new sisters!

Women’s Journeys are uniquely created to bring together women of different generations where we explore both the tender and the wild aspects of our Father’s heart.

SWAZILAND:

Swaziland is like no other place on earth. Visitors are stunned by the lush, mountainous beauty of a country that has been stricken by disease, leaving families broken.

While tragic truth hides behind the stark beauty of the African hills, you can help share hope in this land.

No country on earth has been more devastated by HIV/AIDS. With the highest rate of infection in the world, the disease has affected almost every family in Swaziland. 10% of Swazi children have been orphaned because of infected parents. Words like “rape” and “abuse” can be found in school children’s workbooks. Mothers are widowed, left with no means to support their hungry families. These statistics continue to increase at an alarming rate. Women and children are often left malnourished, uneducated and without hope. During your time in Africa, you will share hope to those left behind by the pandemic.

MINISTRY:

Adventures has been based in Swaziland for more than 10 years. The base in Swaziland is centered around Orphan Care, primarily through places called Care Points. These ministry hubs focus on local infrastructure, discipleship, church growth and sustainability projects.

  • Care Point Ministry: You will spend time at the care points, playing, teaching, and helping care for the children who come for a daily meal and a safe place to be kids.

  • Community Outreach: You will get to go on a home visit with some of the care point children and meet their family or guardian. We will hear their stories, share scripture, pray for them and bless them with a food gift.

  • Hospital Ministry: You and your team will visit the local hospital where we will offer the Love of Christ and Pray for the sick.

  • Abandoned Baby Center: You and your team will visit the abandoned baby center where we will spread the Love of Jesus.

THE JOURNEY:

After spending time working alongside the locals and missionaries in Swaziland, you will have the opportunity to slow down a bit to explore God in the wildness and beauty of Southern Africa through a series of excursions.

  • Kruger National Park: Go to Africa and see the wild animals!!! We will take you up close to see the wildlife in Kruger National Park with a highly experienced guide leading the way. The sound of the bush early in the morning as the birds call, the occasional lion roaring as he establishes his territory. We will sit at a waterhole, relax at the restaurants and sleep in comfy accommodations. All of this plus the sheer size of the skies and the magnitude of God’s creation will minister to you – leaving your head spinning, your heart at rest and a lifetime of memories.

  • Crocodile River and Homestead: A beautiful South African resort where you can sit on the banks of the river and hopefully observe a large variety of wild animals. In the evenings for dinner we will experience a true South African Boma Braai.

  • Painting Workshop: We will express our faith through creativity at the painting workshop along the river. There’s an artist in all of us!
