Adventures in Missions has taken more than 115,000 people on mission trips around the world. Through various short and long-term programs, Adventures helps people from all walks of life discover the world, who Jesus is, and what He has called them to: making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28) and being His witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1).
You want to do something that matters. You want to feel empowered and to make an impact on the world around you. You read about the way the followers of Jesus lived in the first century, and something in you is longing to do more – to live out your faith, hear the voice of God, and display His love to those who need it.
You want to go deeper in your relationship with God. You want to see lives changed.
Imagine experiencing firsthand how to listen to the voice of God, serve others in high-need ministry contexts, and make a real difference in the lives of others.
If you want to join a Christ-centered community committed to doing what the first generation of disciples did, then it’s time for you to join us in…
From the 200 foot cliffs of Cabo Rojo to the ancient streets of San Juan – Puerto Rico is known to be a wonderful tourist destination and to have a relaxed Caribbean culture. However, life on this island is not what you see in the travel magazines. Nearly half of the population in this beautiful country lives below the poverty line and struggle to find jobs. In 2017, Hurricane Maria devastated the nation – the power grid for the entire island was destroyed, leaving 3.4 million U.S. citizens in the dark. About 6% of the population fled Puerto Rico as a result of Maria, that’s over 200,00 people. This tragedy left Puerto Ricans frightened, confused, and hopeless. As they continue to recover, will you share the hope of Jesus in Puerto Rico?
Ministry
While in Puerto Rico, your team will partner with Iglesia Bautista Raham, a church dedicated to bring the love of Jesus to their community.
Work Projects: Your team could help with small construction projects on homes affected by Hurricane Maria.
Community Outreach: You will visit the homes of those affected by Maria and hear their story, while displaying the love and light of Jesus. You will live your faith as you explore the wonders of Puerto Rico, asking the Lord for direction. While swimming at the beach, or shopping in the local markets you will live life on mission.
Children’s Ministry: You may spend time with children while hosting Vacation Bible School in a local community.
Lodging
Your team will be housed at the church where you will have access to bathrooms, and showers.
God is calling you to journey with Him, to share His love with the nations and establish His Kingdom on earth. Will you join Him in Puerto Rico?
Aside from the devastation left by the hurricanes, the issue of Puerto Rico’s political identity divided the nation in the past. Independence, US statehood or the current arrangement of the Commonwealth are all options, but most people now seem content with the status quo. Many are concerned with the increasing Americanization of government. The biggest problem may be, however, the high levels of corruption that plague local government. Pray for wise governance that works for the best interests of the islands’ inhabitants.
