STM July 2016 Mae Sot, Thailand

An adventure awaits you in Thailand!

Mae Sot sits just border of Thailand and Burma, a stone’s throw from “No Man’s Land”, the strip of land not claimed by either nation. Residents of this area are Burmese refugees who Thailand refuses to accept into their population. Technically not citizens of either country, they live in crudely made huts and are governed by the “chief” of the area.

Uprooted, they are essentially an abandoned people.

These families need to know they are wanted.

Ministry:

When you join us in Thailand, ministry opportunities include

  • Kids Ministry: Whether it’s teaching English, VBS in a Muslim village, or just playing with street kids, you’ll have the opportunity to share the love of Christ with kids’ favorite language: fun.
  • Village Ministry: You could visit a brick-making village or even a leper village, bringing hope to men, women, and children who feel forgotten. Share the truth that their true citizenship isn’t in this world, and that they they are never alone.
  • Burmese Ministry: You could serve at the Burmese Refugee Youth Center or possibly even cross the border for a day into Burma, sharing God’s hope and love with everyone you meet.

They’ve escaped a country torn by the longest running civil war the world has ever seen, only to live in a nation refusing to acknowledge their existence. Hope for education, help from the government, and bright futures is laughable, an impossible dream.

It’s time these men, women, and children know they aren’t forgotten. Will you come?
