An adventure awaits you in Uganda!
From the highest mountain range in Africa to the shores of Lake Victoria, Uganda is commonly referred to as the ‘Pearl of Africa,’ but these attractions also hide a side of Uganda that’s remained hidden from most of the world.
Adventure seekers flock to Uganda to visit the source of the Nile, which holds the best white-water rafting in the world. Locals welcome visitors warmly, and children excitedly greet foreigners with a friendly “Mzungu! How are you?”
With the government under the current constitution for only the past 17 years, Uganda is wrapped in a history of corruption and inconsistency. The people don’t know who to follow or what to believe.
Uganda has been in world news recently as activist groups shed light on its war-torn past. During a lengthy civil war, Joseph Kony and his Lord’s Resistance Army abducted an estimated 66,000 child soldiers. Another two million people remain internally displaced as a result of the conflicts. Healing has begun, but the Ugandan people desperately need hope to enter their stories.
A third of Ugandans live in impoverished conditions. Many families cannot afford the fees required for their children’s educations, circulating the population into a consistent cycle of poverty.
Uganda needs to feel the peace and promise of the hope found in Jesus.
The most important way your team can help the people of Uganda is to listen to their stories, let them know they are valued, and build relationships with them that point to Christ. Children’s ministry, door to door evangelism, church services, preaching, prayer walks, and orphan ministry are all ways you could connect with people who need to experience love.
And you will begin to understand God’s unfailing love in new ways in your own life as you show these people that they are not forgotten and each one of them is precious in his sight.
Bring life and hope to the people of this nation to offer them a brighter future.
