Phillipsburg, NJ – Youth

What Is Needed:

The diversity of the community that is open to the Gospel is   huge. Many are church-going but have religion without a deep understanding of who Jesus is and why he died. Others are antagonistic to the Gospel or church entirely. There is a significant influx of gang influence in the town and youth ministries of the church are trying to target middle school students to keep them out of the gangs. You will partner with a very active church whose passion is to reach the community through creative and personal ways.

What You Will Do:
Community cookouts, prayer
walks and relational ministry is key in this community.

There is no limit to what kind of ministry could take place. Creativity with a sensitivity to the human condition is absolutely essential. Only blocks from the church building, where you’ll be staying, is a housing project where generation after generation have imbedded themselves on welfare, drugs and hopelessness. However, it’s a very closed community so ministry is difficult and challenging.

About This Location
Just over the Delaware River is the city of Easton. The city has many similar issues that hamper Phillipsburg, but to heightened degrees. Homelessness, gangs, drugs, prostitution and other common urban issues are present. Ministry will need to be wise, courageous and creative as you will partner with ministries who serve in the trenches in this city.
