STM 2016 Malaysia

An adventure awaits you in Malaysia!

Located in Southeast Asia, Malaysia has one of the most competitive economies in all of Asia. Known for the tallest twin towers in the world, the Petronas Towers, it is a rising power in our global economy.

With a large number of immigrants from India, Thailand, China, and Burma, Malaysia is culturally rich, with heavy influences of Hinduism and Buddhism. However, this culturally diverse and rapidly developing nation is mostly Muslim.

The majority of Malaysians haven’t heard the Gospel.

Ministry:

While in Malaysia, you will stay in Penang, an area with a rich mix of Asian and Western cultures, of tradition and modernity. You will serve local ministries through:

  • Street Ministry: You will volunteer at a local drop-in center for the homeless as well as engage in street ministry, making relationships with those who feel abandoned by society (like the homeless or prostitutes, as well as backpackers).
  • Teaching English: You might have the opportunity to teach English to Malay and Indian children, teaching them a valuable life skill while sharing the love of Christ through relationships.
  • Intercession Ministry: You will worship and join in prayer in the Penang House of Prayer, interceding for the people of Malaysia to come to know the one true God.

As you delve into this culture of works-based religion, strong self-discipline, and uncanny faith, you will have the unique opportunity to deliver hope and point the people to their Redeemer.

Will you serve God in a nation where he is not known?
